Goodbye and Welcome...

Goodbye assignment 2!!! Hehee.. I actually completed it yesterday only. Hehehee.. Shame on me!~ I try my best not to do last minute work again. Hm.. Anyway, about the second assignment.. Manipulating and Assessing Videos for the ESL Classroom. I found out that there are many interesting videos from youtube that can be used in ESL classroom. Try browsing this author: peterweatherall. Welcome assignment 3!!! We were given our third assignment today. My topic is Story Time: Year 2. Hm.. Now, I need to find some group mates.. Earlier on, maam has ordered us to do a task on lesson planning and the four main skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing. Thanks to that, I feel that this assignment would not be such a burden to me. I think that I can really give all out and show what I am capable of. Hehee.. So boastful.. But actually, it's true. I finally realize why maam kept on bombarding us with tonnes and tonnes of weekly tasks. It is for us to learn and to prepare us in doing our assignments. It really, really helped and helps a lot.

Next, we were required to use the Microsoft Office Publisher to create name cards, posters, pamphlets, book cover and newsletter. It was very interesting. I never had the chance to use this application (or is it software?) before and now, maam has given me the opportunity to try and manipulate this software. And, guess what? It is really fun! And, as I mentioned before, subjects taught are always related to each other. What I'm trying to say is, what maam has taught me in this subject helps me in other subjects. I need to do a poster in my EL subject - Gender dan Pekerjaan. Now that I know how to use Microsoft Office Publisher, the task would be easier! Yey!!! Never realized such useful and interesting software is there, hibernating in my laptop.. Huh.. Thanks to its techno-freak master..

Hm.. Talking about my laptop.. Uhuhuu.. My DVD drive is broken.. Hm, these kind of whining should not be in this blog, isn't it? Sorry.. I'm just so depressed.. No money to repair.. Uhuhuu..

Presenting~ Ooh... (@_@)

Hehehee.. now THIS entry is for THIS week. Hehee.. Shame on me! Anyway, today is the presenetation for last week's tasks. Actually, due to the time constrain, my group was not able to presents our part. But, it's ok.. We were able to listen to the other 8 groups. 8! Lucky number! Hehee...

Anyway, now the I finally found out about the others' topics (Learning with and without course book etc) I find that all the topics presented was so interesting and relevent to us as teacher-to-be. We need to know the advantages and disadvantages of certain things such as the '4 half an hour sessions'. I never really thought that there are reasons for the school and the depatment to design the school timetable as such! Uah! I love to learn new things! New infos! Hm, the book that maam had (where all of our notes were taken from) is so interesting. If only maam had asked everybody to have a copy of it and make it as our reference. But, it's okay. Now, everyone had pices of the book. I just need to borrow it from them, photocopy, and have myself a very useful book! Hehee. As what an old Malay advertisement said 'Kalau nak hidup, kena la bijak!'. Well obviously, you need to be able to manipulate things around you to move further in life AND study! That's why people said, study SMART!


Hehee.. I guess, I'll stop now. Hope that next time, my internet connection won't be as terrible as last week. Then, I would be able to write an entry on time. Hm, sorry.. It's fasting month (^_^"). Hehee.. See ya'!

I'm Sorry...

Actually, this entry is for last week... I'm so sorry.. The internet connection at my place was terrible. Wargh!! I want my fast U-Mobile back!! Hm.. Well, maam was absent last week but she did leave some tasks for us. Such a responsible lecturer. I hope that all educator would be like her - not abandoning their pupils no matter where they are. I can still remember, when I was in my primary school. When I pass by certain class, I could see the teacher sleeping and the pupils were running here and there. Maybe he's not feeling well but at least, he should consider about the pupils, especially when they are only primary pupils who are HYPERACTIVE!!!

Anyway, lets go back to the main point - the task that maam gave us. We need to summarize a topic into Power Point and present it to the friends. We? Presenting in front of the class? Well, that really motivated us to produce a quality work so that we won't embarrass ourselves in front of our class. Hehee.. Nice tactic, maam! I surely can apply that in my teaching later on.

Hm.. About the e-book that we handed in on the same day. Well, I'm surely people will be a bit pissed off looking at my booklet because the printing was here and there (er.. How to say? In Malay - 'senget'). This is all because of my printer. I don't know what's wrong with it but it caused nearly all my printouts like that. Uhuhuu.. So sad.. I just bought it last year.. And it's a 3 in 1... Quite expensive.. Uhuhu.. And again, I'm sorry maam, that you have to bear with my 'senget' printouts..

Flash Flash!!!

More assignments... More tasks... Uhuhu.. But, at least, they are pair works. Hehee... Hm.. An e-book... That would not be too hard... I guess... Just using the MsPower point, isn't it? I'm quite familiar with it. So.. Hope that I can produce good e-book.. Hehhee.. And the assignment is about video. Well, NOW I have to apply ALL of my knowledge and skills learnt earlier in this course. Uah.. Now THIS is challenging! I need to save the clip from Youtube, separate the song from the video clip as well as the pictures. Fuh! Then I have to fill some kind of table about using the clip in my lesson. Really need a lot of thinking.. Hm.. Then, I need to do all that with ANOTHER video clip which I have to choose on my own.. Uah... So much work.. So much hard thinking.. But, I guess this is what you call a student's life, isn't it? Well, at least Pn.Foziah is kind enough to negotiate on the due date with us. Thanks, maam!!!
Oh yeah! We were also taught on how to create our own '.gif ' animated pictures http://www.gickr.com/ !!!! Never taught that it is so easy to create interesting and attractive animation. Even better, I can choose ANY pictures that I want to be animated. Uahahaha!! This will surely come in handy as I am diong my assignments as well as in developing my teaching aids for my lessons in times to come.. Hm, if I managed to create my own animation, I'll surely try to upload it here for your view..

The Grammy Awards Goes To...

Me and my partner!!! Hahahaa.. Sorry.. I did not post this blog last week. The holiday was such a busy for me. My uncle was hospitalized in Ampang Puteri and we had to go back and forth from home to the hospital. Then, my brother was assigned to teach in MRSM Kuala Lipis so we had to journey all the way from Penang to Pahang to send him there. Uah..
However, we were still able to complete our Video Editing Task. Thank you so much to my partner (Mr. Izzuddin that is) for landing me such a big hand. Though I was at all over the place (Penang, KL and Pahang) and he was in Sabak Bernam, we still managed to complete our task. We used Yahoo Messenger, phone calls and he even sacrificed to come back to KL earlier than what he has planned so that we could meet up and finish the task. Thanks so, so much!
Now I know why Pn.Foziah ordered us to do works in pairs or groups. It really taught me about cooperation, responsibility, toleration and sacrifice. Maam, thank you so much! Whoa.. I am in debt with so many people now... Well, as people used to say, human can't live alone. We are dependent upon each other...
Hm.. The video has completed. I really had fun during the production of the video. And as I was looking for some resources for the video, I realized how 'illiterate' Malaysians are. I could see people ignoring the signboards everywhere, everytime. And as browse through the internet for more pictures, I found out that this problem does not occur in Malaysia only. However, since our video's focus is about Malaysian, we did not include the pictures of people from other countries.
All in all, I really had fun and learnt a lot in the production of the video. Hope that all viewers will also enjoy the video as much as I did in producing it. See ya'!

Hollywood, Here I Come!!!

We were taught about video editing today.. The examples shown were very interesting. it really inspires me in the sense that I am motivated to create even better videos, hoping that next time, the lecturer may use My video as one of the examples for my juniors. Hm.. I'll be so~ proud if that really happens.. But, as what maam used to say, 'Nothing is Impossible'... Anyway, I think this lessson is very important since sometimes, I did find some videos to be used in my lesson but, some of the content in that video may not be suitable or sometimes, I would want to include few scenes from different videos in one video viewing session. So, as we were taught about this lesson, I really hope that I would be able to apply this knowledge in improving my teaching aids..
However, there are cirtain things that I would like to comment.. I think, we don't have to do that '8TV Do You Think You Can Dance' task.. The first task is good enough for us to learn to apply and explore the knowledge in Video Editing. If we were to do only one task, we could concentrate more on it and surely would be able to produce even better movies.. Another things is, both of our task was something that have nothing to do with primary education. They are both about something that is entertaining yet, have little academic value.
So, what I'm trying to say here is that, one task is good enough to have us to explore video editing skills. Secondly, if we were still required to do two tasks, one should be more towards education.

Audio Editing

Compiling several song into one, cutting some parts of the song.. All these are possible now! Hahaha!!! actually, I'm having a problem with my Video task for another subject... the problem is, I wanted to use the 'Old McDonald Song' by Barney and Friends but, I did not want the whole verse. I want only the chorus part. So, what to do?
Thank god maam Foziah taught us about the audio editing and now I can easily complete my task. Yatta!!! See? Subjects taught are related to each other. We just need to see the link and you would be able to improve yourself in many, many aspect!
Hm.. What else.. Well, just some tips to dear readers. You may not have any software for photo editing but you can easily use the software that comes together in the CD of your digital camera. As for audio editing, you can also use mp3 cutter if you are really stuck.. Well, I'm not that goo also and I only heard some guys talked about the tips above. So, let's try together and endure a whole new experiance.
